TEPSS was founded in 2017 by a local Hobart GP. She started TEPSS after becoming aware that despite being legal in Tasmania, local women had limited options for accessing abortion compared to the Mainland. She felt that local women were disadvantaged by this and wanted to increase the options available to them.

At TEPSS we aim to provide you with a confidential, non-judgemental, reflective and supportive service. We aim to provide personalised care and ensure you leave with a plan for ongoing contraception. We acknowledge that there can still be stigma against abortion and are working to create accessible quality care in a safe environment. Rather than visit a dedicated abortion service, we see our patients in a GP practice amongst other GP patients.
